Fin Green Battles To Points Finish In Challenging Croft Weekend

Fin Green returned to race action in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup at Croft Circuit last weekend (June 15/16) and scored a points finish at the packed North Yorkshire venue. The Total Control Racing driver last competed at Donington Park in April, where he was involved in a high-speed incident. Suffering a severe concussion and heavy bruising, the 16-year-old recovered in time to get back behind the wheel for the third event of the 2019 season. After getting back in the groove during free practice on Friday, qualifying proved to be a frenetic affair with times continuing to tumble as the session progressed. With the threat of raining looming overhead, the GDS Group supported driver served up a scintillating lap worthy of fifth place for the opening encounter. Heavy rainfall between qualifying and the first race on the Saturday added further spice to the action. Following an early red flag, conditions continued to deteriorate and Green was left to focus on putting together two strong performances on Sunday. Drier conditions greeted drivers on Sunday and the Love Cars-backed driver produced a steady drive to bank yet more points. Starting on the fourth row of the grid in eighth, Green found himself in the thick of the action as he diced with rivals. At the scene of his maiden Ginetta Junior victory twelve months ago, Green added to his experience at the wheel of his rear-wheel-drive machine as he fought his way to ninth overall and seventh in the Pro Class. The final race of the weekend unfortunately ended early for Green, with bad luck striking again as slight contact with a bollard caused the wheel to be knocked out of alignment and forced Green pull off the track into retirement. The Bristol racer ends the weekend sitting tenth in the overall championship standings. Fin Green: "Unfortunately it was a difficult weekend for us. With the changing weather and having to break in a brand new car, we came away with results that we know we can improve upon. We are now focusing on the next rounds. “I treat each weekend as a big learning opportunity and I make sure I take as much as I can from each event. Moving forward, hopefully we’ll get some good luck on our side and it would be nice to see a bit more sunshine during a race weekend for sure.” The 2019 Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup season continues at Oulton Park this weekend (29/30 June), where two more races will take place around the challenging Cheshire circuit.
