Blake Angliss is set for an exciting new chapter in his blossoming young motorsport career next season as he graduates to the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup with multiple championship-winning team Century Motorsport.
Renowned as a proving ground for the GT racing stars of the future, the GT4 SuperCup is a fantastic next step for Angliss and will see him compete on the highest profile race package in the UK, alongside the British Touring Car Championship.
This exciting move for Angliss comes following a brilliant showing in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge this year. Contesting the final three events of the year, the teenage talent made an immediate impression with his raw speed and race craft in the ultra-competitive series.
Beating drivers with years of experience in Ginetta racing, the Coventry racer scored a top ten result on his debut weekend at Donington Park and went on to further highlight his clear potential with brilliant sixth place finishes in each of two visits to Silverstone.
With that experience under his belt, Angliss will be competing in a new ‘GT Pro’ class next year. Aimed as a stepping stone into GT racing for young drivers, the 17 year old will be taking to the track in a Ginetta G55 GTA; a high-performance, purpose built GT race car that produces 300bhp.
Angliss will benefit from the wealth of experience at Century Motorsport, one of the most successful teams in Ginetta history. Multiple title-winners in both the GT5 Challenge and GT4 SuperCup, the team is renowned for bringing the best out of young drivers.
Blake Angliss: “I’m incredibly excited by this opportunity. I believe the GT4 SuperCup is a natural progression in my racing career and will help me learn a lot for racing in the future. With my limited time in cars, the new GT Pro class is a good step up and will be a great place to develop my skills.
“The Ginetta G55 GTA is a true race car, from the sound, the looks and the way it handles. I’ve loved every opportunity I’ve had to drive it so far, it’s an exhilarating experience with all the power under my right foot, and I’m confident it’s a car I can be fast and successful in.
“Century Motorsport are a very professional team with lots of experience and success competing in Ginetta racing. After getting to know them and how they operate, I’m confident they are the right team to help me develop as a driver and reach the next level.
“In the long-term, they can offer me a stepping stone within the team to learn and progress into the main GT4 SuperCup classes and then into British GT too. I’m really looking forward to working with them and going for a title challenge next season.”
Nathan Freke, Century Motorsport Team Owner: “Blake is a young driver who has great aspirations for his future driving career and the GT Pro class is the perfect platform for him to hone his driving skills and start to forge his future.
“Blake has a great attitude and with our experience and infrastructure I am very excited about our future together. We are looking forward to taking delivery of our new car and getting started with him.”
The Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is one of the leading one-make GT championships in the UK. Racing alongside the British Touring Car Championship, the series will be contested across eight race weekends with races televised live through the year on ITV4.
