Breakell Racing will make an exciting second appearance in the British GT Championship at Donington Park next weekend (07-08 September), aiming to build on their fantastic debut outing in the Silverstone 500.
The Lancashire-based team produced a standout performance in the prestigious three-hour race at Silverstone back in April, narrowly missing out on a sensational class podium finish with their Mercedes-AMG GT4 in the hands of Harley Haughton and Carl Garnett.
After proving themselves capable of battling with the top GT teams and drivers in the country, Breakell Racing are ready to further enhance their reputation and challenge for another front-running result as they return to the ultra-competitive GT4 grid in one of the world’s foremost domestic GT series.
Talented young GT racer Haughton will once again lead a Pro-Am entry for the Donington Park event, while a change of team-mate sees him partner up with team principal James Breakell, who will be making his British GT debut and racing the Mercedes-AMG GT4 for the first time.
Breakell enters the championship for the first time with a wealth of experience in multi-class endurance racing, having competed in Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie events for over a decade including three appearances in the world-famous Nürburgring 24 Hours.
A grid of over 35 cars is expected to line-up at Donington Park across the GT3 and GT4 classes, with a two-hour race awaiting them around the circuit’s iconic Grand Prix layout. The race will be streamed live online for free via the GT World YouTube channel.
James Breakell: “I can’t wait to get Breakell Racing back on the British GT Championship grid at Donington Park. Our debut at Silverstone was a fantastic experience for all involved and we’re really excited to have another chance to show what we can do.
“Personally, to be racing in British GT for the first time is a dream come true and it’s going to be a special feeling lining up the grid come race day. We proved at Silverstone that we can be a competitive force in this championship and we are determined to do the same again next weekend.”
Harley Haughton: “Our British GT debut in the Silverstone 500 went extremely well and the whole team showed we mean business. James is an experienced racer and I’m excited to be racing alongside him, as I know his no-nonsense mindset and attitude towards constant improvement will serve us well.
“Donington Park is a circuit I have a lot of experience at, and our race in the British Endurance Championship there back in March has given us plenty of data to work with. That should serve as a great foundation for next weekend and I’m confident we can go and enjoy more success.”
