Harley Haughton Builds Speed With Impressive Nürburgring Drive

Harley Haughton has completed the latest chapter of his Nürburgring education with another great performance in the third round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) this past Saturday (15 April).

Haughton continued to gain crucial knowledge and experience during a third and final event behind the wheel of WS Racing’s VW Scirocco, in preparation for a step up into Breakell Racing’s Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS for the upcoming 24 Hours of Nürburgring.

Partnering with Ulrich Schmidt and Robert Hinzer in the Scirocco, the Stockport-based racer enjoyed another step forward in speed during qualifying to post his fastest laps so far around the world-famous 15-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit.

Haughton was behind the wheel for the start of the four-hour race and put together a great stint. Continuing to improve his lap-times in race conditions, he enjoyed some exciting battles on track as he firmly established the Scirocco within the top ten of the competitive VT2-FWD class.

After handing over control of the car to his team-mates, some unfortunate mechanical issues cost the team some time in the pitlane and ultimately left them in 11th position in class at the chequered flag.

Haughton will now move on to the next step of his Nürburgring journey as he links up with Breakell Racing in their Cayman. He’ll drive the car for the first-time this weekend (22-23 April), contesting two races as part of the ADAC 24h Nurburgring Qualifiers event; the dress rehearsal ahead of the main event next month (18-21 May).

Harley Haughton: “It’s been another hugely productive and positive few days at the Nurburgring. I’m constantly improving my knowledge of this incredible circuit, finding more lap time within myself and getting experience of the unique endurance racing you get in these events.

“I couldn’t have asked for much more from these three NLS events, in terms of the track time I’ve gained and everything I’ve learnt with the WS Racing team. I’m hugely excited to make the step up to the Cayman with Breakell Racing now and can’t wait to be back on track this week to finalise our preparations for the 24 Hours.”
